Introducing: "Passive House" (PassivHaus)
Chris will be presenting "Passive House Design Principles" at the next SWITCH meeting in Kingston, February 3rd, 2012. If you're interssted in learning more about the worlds most comprehensive standard for energy conservation in new (and retrofit) buildings, you are welcome to attend. 8 AM, Friday @ the Curling Club in Days Road.
If you haven't heard of a "Passive House" before, you're certainly not alone. Canada is just now starting to catch on to this impressive standard for energy efficiency, longevity and superior indoor air quality (IAQ). A Passive House is extremely well insulated, very tight, requires great care in construction to eliminate thermal bridges, and uses only 10-20% of the energy required to heat and cool a conventional home. These attributes combined with the fact it is healthier to live in, make it a true winner.
